Music licensing: the music you want, without the legal headache

Music licensing is the work of clearing, negotiating and documenting the right to use a track in a campaign. At Mantra we coordinate licences, renewals, assignments and buyouts, and when the budget does not stretch, alternatives reach you within 48 hours. It is the same desk that sorts out the music for brands like Pepsi, Gasco and Movistar.

What it includes

  • Licensing and negotiationWe talk to publishers and labels and get the permission in writing.
  • Alternative budgets in 48 hoursIf the dream track does not fit the budget, options that do reach you instead.
  • Rights renewalWe flag a licence before it expires and handle the extension.
  • Royalty-free tracksWe look for royalty-free catalogue when the campaign needs something fast.
  • Assignments and buyoutsWe close the assignment or buyout with media, territories and term written down.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any song in an ad?

Not without permission from the owner of the composition and of the recording. We request the quote, negotiate media, territories and term, and put the agreement in writing before the piece goes on air.

What if the licence does not fit the budget?

We send alternatives within 48 hours. They can be royalty-free tracks, catalogue with a shorter licence or original music composed here with the same feel. You compare cost and timing with the numbers in front of you.

What is a buyout?

It is a single payment covering the agreed use of a track, with no fee per broadcast. It is defined by media, territories and term. We negotiate it based on where and for how long the campaign will be on air.

Do you warn us when a licence expires?

Yes. We keep the term calendar for the campaigns we manage and warn you before expiry. That is when you decide whether to renew, change the music or close a longer assignment. You never find out because an invoice arrived.
